Urim and Thummim

Ok, chatting about the Urim and the Thummim, they are both plural words, which in English could be translated as

Urim Lights flashing at the start, at sunrise or Yes see Owr inferring Light, morning, daybreak
Thummim Perfections flashing at the close, at sunset or No see Tamam inferring Completion, finished.

Here are the seven Old Testament references.

1 Exodus 28:30

And you shall put in the breastplate of judgment the Urim and the Thummim; and they shall be upon Aaron's heart, when he goes in before the LORD: and Aaron shall bear the judgment of the children of Israel upon his heart before the LORD continually.

2 Leviticus 8:8

And he put the breastplate upon him: also he put in the breastplate the Urim and the Thummim.

3 Numbers 27:21

And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall ask counsel for him after the judgment of Urim before the LORD: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation.

4 Deuteronomy 33:8

And of Levi he said, Let your Thummim and your Urim be with your holy one, whom you did prove at Massah, and with whom you did strive at the waters of Meribah;

5 1 Samuel 28:6

And when Saul inquired of the LORD, the LORD answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.

6 Ezra 2:63

And the Tirshatha (the Persian Governor) said unto them, that they (those priests — descended from Aaron — who’d had a mother at some point from Gilead's tribe in Manasseh inserted into their genealogy, and whose names were then not found in the register) should not eat of the most holy things, till there stood up a priest with Urim and with Thummim.

7 Nehemiah 7:65

And the Tirshatha said unto them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there stood up a priest with Urim and Thummim.

So, firstly Urim

In Hebrew, as well as the word for Light, it's also connected to the word for Fire.
In the Greek Septuagint it’s the word for “certainty” (delos). What you see.

1 Timothy 6:7 For we brought nothing into (this) world, (and it is) certain we can carry nothing out.

Next Thummim

In Hebrew it’s connected to the word for Integrity and Truth, in the Greek it’s the word for “uncovered” (aletheia), i.e. genuine, no play-acting. What we do (in Christ).

Genesis 20:6 And God said to him in a dream, Also, I know that you did this in the integrity of your heart, for I also withheld you from sinning against me: therefore I did not allow you to touch her.

Putting the two together using the New Testament Book of James

James speaks of Rahab, who, having seen what God had done to the nations around her (fire, light) took action to protect the spies (heart integrity).

James 2:25-26 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
